Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State announced on Thursday that the much-anticipated construction of the Fourth Mainland Bridge is set to commence in the first quarter of this year, with a target to break ground by the end of March or April.
The governor revealed this crucial information during his keynote address at the Lagos West Senatorial District Town Hall Meeting held at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Sheraton, Ikeja.
Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the construction of the Fourth Mainland Bridge will be executed in phases, and he assured that adequate compensation would be provided to landlords and tenants affected by the demolition of structures during the construction process.
Addressing the challenges in securing financing for the project, the governor acknowledged the need for innovative solutions, stating, “We’ve done extensive work on the bridge. But we are at the crossroads of where to get the real financing for that kind of project. We’ll need to be very very creative.”
Sanwo-Olu reiterated the commitment of his administration, stating, “Our commitment is that within this first quarter, meaning that by the end of March or April, we should break grounds to start the construction of the Fourth Mainland Bridge.”
This announcement marks a significant step forward in the realization of the long-awaited infrastructure project, promising improved connectivity and development for the region.
