2Face Idibia Appointed Technical Adviser For Entertainment And Community Outreach In Benue State.

Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has appointed Nigerian music icon Innocent Ujah Idibia, popularly known as 2Face Idibia, as the Technical Adviser for Entertainment and Community Outreach. The announcement, made on Wednesday, has sparked widespread excitement across the state and beyond, with many hailing the decision as a strategic step to harness the power of entertainment for community development.

2Face, an award-winning artist and native of Okpokwu Local Government Area in the Benue South Senatorial District, brings a wealth of experience and influence to the role. Known for his soulful music and advocacy for social change, the 49-year-old superstar has a career spanning over two decades, with hits like African Queen and Amaka cementing his status as one of Africa’s most celebrated musicians.

A Strategic Appointment

Governor Alia’s decision to appoint 2Face reflects his administration’s commitment to leveraging the creative industry to foster unity, promote cultural heritage, and engage the youth of Benue State. The role of Technical Adviser for Entertainment and Community Outreach is expected to involve developing initiatives that use music, arts, and entertainment to drive community engagement, boost tourism, and create economic opportunities.

“This appointment is a testament to our belief in the transformative power of the arts,” a statement from the Governor’s office read. “2Face Idibia’s remarkable talent and deep connection to the people of Benue make him the ideal candidate to lead our efforts in using entertainment as a tool for community outreach and development.”

2Face’s Vision for Benue

While 2Face has yet to release an official statement, sources close to the artist suggest he is enthusiastic about the opportunity to serve his home state. His extensive work through the 2Face Foundation, which focuses on youth empowerment and peacebuilding, aligns closely with the objectives of his new role. Fans and supporters anticipate that he will use his platform to amplify Benue’s rich cultural heritage and address pressing social issues through creative initiatives.

Posts on X reflect a largely positive sentiment, with many users congratulating 2Face on his appointment. “This is huge for Benue! 2Face is a legend, and he’ll bring so much to this role,” one user wrote. However, some expressed scepticism, questioning whether entertainment should be a priority given the state’s challenges, including security concerns.

Mixed Reactions

The appointment has not been without controversy. Critics, including some voices on X, argue that the state should focus on addressing urgent issues such as insecurity and economic hardship rather than investing in entertainment. One user remarked, “Is Benue State supposed to be involved in anything entertainment right now?” Nevertheless, supporters counter that cultural and creative initiatives can play a vital role in uplifting communities and fostering hope, particularly among young people.

A New Chapter for Benue

2Face’s appointment comes at a time when the Alia administration is seeking innovative ways to engage its citizens and promote development. The music icon’s global appeal and deep roots in Benue position him uniquely to bridge gaps between the government and local communities, particularly the youth demographic.

As Technical Adviser, 2Face is expected to collaborate with local artists, community leaders, and government agencies to design programmes that celebrate Benue’s cultural identity while addressing social challenges. His influence could also attract investment and partnerships to the state’s burgeoning creative sector.

Looking Ahead

The people of Benue State and fans across Nigeria eagerly await 2Face’s first steps in his new role. With his track record of using music as a force for good, there is optimism that this appointment will mark a new chapter of growth and unity for the state.

For now, congratulations are in order for 2Face Idibia, a son of Benue, as he takes on this significant responsibility to serve his people in a new capacity.
