8 Ways To Use Feminine Energy For Self-Care

Feminine energy is a set of traits that can be developed, embraced, and practiced to improve wellness and performance.

Here are eight ways it can enhance your self-care.

Feminine energy is always present and can be embraced at any point. And what better way and time to do so than women’s month? This is because, under this theme, it can be easier to remember and feel connected to a cause.

What is feminine energy?

It refers to specific traits that are in contrast to traits associated with masculine energy. Both energies exist in each individual but one is usually predominant. In daily life, it is hard to make the distinction and it requires some tuning to find balance.

For most people (men and women), masculine energy is predominant. It works towards goals, making progress, pushing forward, getting things done, logic, and winning.

Feminine energy is characterised by traits like going with the flow of life, embracing creative energy, dancing, playing, and attuning to your internal process, especially emotions.

It also includes traits like:

  1. Easily able to calm down.
  2. Good at taking care of yourself and loving yourself.
  3. Ability to find creative inspiration.
  4. Ability to empathize.
  5. Prioritizing feelings.
  6. Good communication skills.

Masculine energy or a masculine way of living tends to be more valued because it is concerned with achievement, progress, and pushing forward. This is not a bad thing. But when it is overvalued at the expense of the feminine way of living, it can cause individual and cultural distress.

It leads to overworking with little rest, fixed routines without spontaneity, and workaholism without vacation. Consequently, feminine traits like wellness and communication suffer leading to health and relationship problems.

We become addicted to technology and other addictive material and substances rather than playing or expressing ourselves.

According to Shelly Bullard, a Marriage and Family Therapist, we start to crave things and long for something beyond; wild, resourceful, adventurous, and healing things.

Here’s how you can bring your feminine energy into focus for self-care

1. Allow yourself to be led/others to lead

Let others show you the way. Chances are you know what you want, your needs, desires, opinions, and values. But fighting for them all the time can take a toll on you and those around you. Giving others the reigns will not take away from who you are and what you want.

Moreover, how will you know who has your best interest at heart? It can be with friends, family, colleagues, bosses, community. If you allow others to do their thing, you give them a chance to show you who they are and what they can do. It can improve your relationships for the better or worse, but you will have the experience.

2. Let yourself be pursued

Pursue your wellness and sense of self and let others pursue you. Focus on your needs and values and how you can be more centered on yourself. Leave the planning and initiating of activities and conversations.

The better you understand and cater to yourself, the better you will do in interacting with others. You will be better at handling your triggers, stress, and other people’s masculine energy.

3. Reflect and get help

Most of the time we are so busy fulfilling external needs that we neglect our needs. One of the best ways to step to getting the support and help we need is to start therapy. Connecting with our needs, and responsibilities to ourselves.

Reflecting also involves listening to your body and getting it the support and help it needs. Getting medical attention for health issues, massage, spa treatment, and sauna.

4. Go outdoors or into nature

Places can be either feminine or masculine. Workspaces are usually masculine no matter how feminine they “look”. They also tend to be indoors or enclosed, and this can include your house if work is a big part of your home life too.

Get out in nature in parks, forests, jungles, water bodies, fields, and the like to get in touch with your feminine energy.

5. Get creative

You don’t have to be purposeful about being creative. However, engaging in creative activities or spaces can give you the spark. Dancing, writing, painting, and exploring new ideas and old ones. It is all about getting your flow, which is characteristic of feminine energy.

6. Emotional expression

Get in touch with your emotions. Emotions and feelings tend to be undervalued but that is an unhelpful way to deal with them. If you understand how you feel and your emotions, not only will you be better at handling them, but you will be better suited to handle those of others.

Emotional intelligence is an essential power to have in daily life.

7. Put value on spontaneity and play

You can add more play time and spontaneous activities to your routine. It’s the start of the year, so off-work time is a bit far to wait to have fun. Plan mini-vacations, weekend getaways, rest, time for reading, music, and other simple joys.

8. Force your transformation

Masculine energy has a pitfall where it can get trapped in a loop of self-help and improvement. Feminine energy is better suited to bring transformation. Rest, creativity, understanding our emotions, and taking care of ourselves are catalysts of change.

So take this time to embrace the scary but necessary ways you want to change and make them a reality within your feminine energy.

Takeaway

Feminine energy is a way of life that is familiar to us but undervalued. With such practices, we can get in touch with that lifestyle. The best part is it is individualistic so you don’t have to deal with anyone’s disapproval.
