President Bola Tinubu has approved the automatic employment of the four children of the late Head of the Civil Service of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dr. Grace Adayilo, who recently passed away.
The announcement was made by the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, during Dr. Adayilo’s funeral service held at the National Ecumenical Centre in Abuja. Wike conveyed the President’s condolences to the family and described Dr. Adayilo as a dedicated, humble, and loyal public servant.
“The President has directed that her four children be automatically employed as a way to provide for the family after the loss of their beloved mother,” Wike stated. One of the children is currently serving in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program in Port Harcourt. Details of the specific positions the children will hold in the civil service have not yet been disclosed.
Wike praised Dr. Adayilo’s exceptional work ethic, recalling her swift response to directives, commitment to staff welfare, and her strict yet caring approach to leadership.
“Very strong, very humble, and very loyal. No excuses. Even if I was away, once I called, within minutes the assignment was done. She did not joke about payment of salaries and entitlements. She was a good mother,” Wike said, highlighting her dedication.
He encouraged everyone to emulate Dr. Adayilo’s selfless and caring spirit, noting that her life and service were an example for all Nigerians.
Dr. Grace Adayilo served as FCT Head of Service until her passing and was remembered by colleagues, friends, and family as a selfless leader, mother figure, and a source of inspiration in both public service and her community.
Her legacy, Wike added, will continue to guide the civil service, emphasizing efficiency, integrity, and humanity in governance.
