The city of Ibadan is abuzz with excitement as dignitaries from across the country converge to witness the coronation of Senator Rashidi Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.

The event has drawn attention from political leaders, traditional rulers, and community figures who are set to honor Ladoja’s ascension to the revered throne.

Among the early arrivals are notable figures such as Senator Ibikunle Amosun, a former governor of Ogun State, and his predecessor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel. These eminent Nigerians have joined the list of prominent attendees celebrating the new monarch. The coronation is being described as historic, with significance in Ibadan’s cultural calendar.

Residents of Ibadan are expressing pride and anticipation over the installation of their new traditional ruler. From major markets to neighborhoods, the mood has been festive, reflecting the city’s excitement for the event. According to residents, the coronation is not just a celebration of tradition but also a moment of pride and identity for the people of Ibadan.

The coronation ceremony is expected to feature colorful displays of Ibadan culture, music, and pageantry. With President Bola Tinubu and other top dignitaries in attendance, the event promises to be a grand affair. The city has been decorated with billboards and banners, highlighting the scale of the awareness campaign.

As part of the preparations, the Oyo State government has announced traffic restrictions around Mapo Hall, the venue of the coronation. Only the convoys of President Tinubu and Governor Seyi Makinde will be allowed direct access to the coronation ground. Three official parking areas have been designated to ease movement.

The coronation of Oba Ladoja marks a new chapter in Ibadan’s history, with expectations high that his reign will bring progress, unity, and renewed pride to the ancient city. As the city prepares to welcome dignitaries from far and wide, Ibadan is set to remind the world of its historical prestige and enduring place in Yoruba and Nigerian history.
