The Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has given contractors handling the Renewed Hope Estate in Nasarawa State a six-month timeline to complete the project.
This directive comes amid concerns over delays in the construction work.
Permanent Secretary Dr. Shuaib Belgore, during a recent site inspection, noted that while road infrastructure and utility installations have progressed, building construction has been slower than expected. He stressed the importance of meeting the deadline to ensure timely delivery of the estate.
Dr. Belgore warned that failure to adhere to the six-month timeline could result in the re-award of contracts to companies capable of completing the project efficiently. The Ministry intends to maintain strict oversight to prevent further delays.
He also instructed the Federal Controller of Housing in Nasarawa State to collaborate with the state government in addressing issues related to gully erosion. Affected land will be reallocated, and proper documentation for the new site must be ensured to avoid legal or logistical complications.
The Renewed Hope Estate, which will feature 250 housing units, is being developed by San Afar Nigeria Limited and Al Yuma Ventures and Investment Limited. The project is part of the government’s broader Renewed Hope Housing Agenda aimed at increasing affordable housing across Nigeria.
The Ministry affirmed its commitment to delivering the estate on time as part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s urban development and housing initiatives. Officials stressed that successful completion of the project would serve as a model for similar housing schemes nationwide.
