APC Picks Consensus Candidate in Osogbo
Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji has been affirmed as the All Progressives Congress (APC), candidate for the 2026 Osun State governorship election.
The affirmation was concluded at the end of the party’s governorship primary held on Saturday in Osogbo, where APC leaders and delegates adopted a consensus arrangement in line with the party’s national directive.
Decision Backed by APC National Leadership
A former governorship aspirant, Kunle Rasheed Adegoke, who announced the outcome, said Oyebamiji’s emergence followed the decision of the APC National Working Committee (NWC).
According to him, all other aspirants in the race agreed to step down in support of Oyebamiji to promote unity within the party.
Adegoke Moves Motion for Adoption
Formally moving the motion, Adegoke said:
“I, Kunle Adegoke, with the consent of all other aspirants, move the motion that Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji be adopted as the consensus candidate to contest in the 2026 governorship election. I so move.”
Omoworare Seconds Motion
The motion was seconded by Senator Babajide Omoworare, effectively sealing Oyebamiji’s position as the APC’s consensus governorship candidate.
Primary Election Committee Confirms Candidate
Following the endorsement by delegates through a voice vote, the Chairman of the Osun APC Governorship Primary Election Committee and Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, formally announced Bola Oyebamiji as the party’s candidate for the 2026 election.

Oyebamiji’s affirmation marks a significant step in the APC’s preparations for the 2026 governorship race, as the party seeks to strengthen internal cohesion and mount a strong challenge in Osun State.
