President Tinubu’s aircraft landed at the Presidential Wing of Zayed International Airport at exactly 11:30 pm local time. He was warmly received by Sheikh Shakhboot Nahyan Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs; Salem Saeed Al-Shamsi, UAE Ambassador to Nigeria; Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs; and members of Nigeria’s diplomatic mission in Abu Dhabi.

The warm reception reflects the longstanding diplomatic and economic relationship between Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates, further strengthened by President Tinubu’s visit.

Top Nigerian Officials Accompany the President

Several senior Nigerian officials were present to welcome President Tinubu at his hotel, including:

  • Atiku Bagudu, Minister of Budget and Planning

  • Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment

  • Ambassador Muhammed Muhammed, Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency

Their presence highlights the importance of the visit in advancing Nigeria’s economic and strategic partnerships abroad.

Europe Tour Sets Stage for Global Engagement

President Tinubu arrived in Abu Dhabi following a productive tour of Europe, where he engaged in high-level discussions with:

  • Rwandan President Paul Kagame

  • French President Emmanuel Macron

These meetings, part of the President’s end-of-year engagements, focused on enhancing bilateral relations and exploring avenues for investment, trade, and regional cooperation.

Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2026: “The Nexus of Next, All Systems Go”

The 2026 edition of ADSW brings together world leaders, policymakers, investors, and experts to advance global sustainability goals. Under the theme “The Nexus of Next, All Systems Go,” discussions will focus on:

  • Climate action and energy transition

  • Inclusive economic growth

  • Innovative sustainable solutions for global challenges

President Tinubu’s participation positions Nigeria as an active contributor to global conversations on sustainable development and reinforces its commitment to climate-friendly initiatives.

Strengthening Diplomatic and Economic Relations

The visit is expected to further deepen Nigeria-UAE relations, particularly in trade, investment, and sustainable development initiatives. Analysts suggest that engagements at ADSW could open new avenues for Nigeria in renewable energy, green technology, and international partnerships.

Conclusion:

President Tinubu’s presence at ADSW 2026 not only underscores Nigeria’s role in global sustainability efforts but also signals the country’s growing influence in international diplomacy and economic cooperation.
