In a strategic move to propel digital innovation in Africa, a delegation from the U.S. Government is en route to South Africa to partake in the Africa Tech Festival scheduled in Cape Town from November 13-16.
Recognizing Africa’s vast digital potential for economic recovery, social and gender equality, and job creation, the Africa Tech Festival aims to gather over 15,000 tech entrepreneurs and innovators for a three-day event shaping the future of the continent’s tech industry.
This initiative aligns with the Digital Transformation with Africa (DTA), a flagship project of the Biden-Harris Administration. The U.S. government’s participation includes a conference, “The U.S. Partners on Digital Transformation with Africa,” scheduled on November 13-14, addressing digital connectivity and cybersecurity partnerships.
Led by Jennifer Bachus, the State Department’s Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of Cyberspace and Digital Policy, the U.S. Government delegation comprises representatives from the Department of Commerce, State Department, U.S. Agency for International Development, and the Prosper Africa Secretariat. This diverse group, accompanied by U.S. businesses and investors, will contribute to high-level panels covering cybersecurity, digital infrastructure in Sub-Saharan Africa, fintech, and U.S. tech solutions for Africa.
The U.S. Pavilion at the festival will spotlight government agency partners dedicated to fostering an inclusive and resilient African digital ecosystem. Their collaborative efforts, in conjunction with U.S. tech companies, aim to promote U.S. and African commercial interests through the Digital Transformation with Africa initiative.
