President Bola Tinubu has returned to Nigeria following a significant two-day official visit to the State of Qatar. This visit marked Tinubu’s 12th foreign trip since his assumption of the Presidency nine months ago, underscoring his commitment to strengthening international relations.
The presidential jet, NAF 001, carrying President Tinubu, landed at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport around 7 pm, concluding a productive engagement abroad that spanned 75 days.
Upon arrival, President Tinubu was warmly received by top government officials, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress Abdullahi Ganduje, and the Director-General of the Department of State Services Yusuf Bichi, among others.
During his visit, President Tinubu emphasized the importance of accurate documentation of a nation’s history and cultural evolution while touring Qatar’s National Museum. He highlighted the significance of understanding cultural heritage, collaborations, challenges, and leadership perseverance.
On the second day of his visit, President Tinubu, alongside the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, witnessed the signing of seven landmark agreements between Nigeria and Qatar.
These agreements encompass cooperation in education, regulation of employment, establishment of a joint business council, cooperation in youth and sports, tourism, business events, and combating illicit trade in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.
Addressing the Nigeria-Qatar Business and Investment Forum, President Tinubu urged Qatari business leaders to report any Nigerian official demanding bribes, emphasizing Nigeria’s commitment to combating corruption and fostering a conducive environment for investment.
He reassured the international business community of Nigeria’s readiness for serious business and pledged to remove bureaucratic bottlenecks hindering legitima te enterprise.
