The United States Mission to the United Nations has unveiled its delegation for the 68th Session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW68), set to convene from March 11 to 22, 2024, at the UN Headquarters in New York.
This year’s CSW68 theme, “Accelerating the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls,” stresses the urgent need to address poverty, bolster institutions, and prioritize gender-inclusive financing to advance gender equality globally.
Leading the U.S. delegation are Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, U.S. Representative to the United Nations, and Ambassador-at-Large for Global Women’s Issues Geeta Rao Gupta.
Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield will deliver the national statement on behalf of the United States during the General Discussion on March 12, marking a pivotal moment in advocating for women’s rights and empowerment.
Accompanying the ambassadorial leadership are a cadre of senior government advisers, including Jennifer Klein, Assistant to the President and Director of the White House Gender Policy Council, and Ambassador Lisa Carty, Representative of the United States to the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations.
In addition to government officials, the U.S. delegation includes non-government advisers who bring diverse perspectives to the table. Among them are Karina, a Youth Leader for The Girl Scouts, Elise Young, Senior Director of Women’s Empowerment for Counterpart International, and Yana Watson Kakar, Managing Director and Head of Americas for Caisse de Depot ET Placement, CDPQ Global.
