CAF Club Rankings: Nigerian Clubs Misses Out In Top 20 Latest Ratings

Moroccan Clubs Lead African Football Club Rankings

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has unveiled its latest club rankings following the exciting semi-final clashes of the Champions League and Confederation Cup, showcasing the dominance of Moroccan and Egyptian clubs in the top rankings.

In a recent release by CAF, Moroccan clubs emerged as the frontrunners in the top 20 rankings, boasting four teams among the continent’s elite. Not far behind, Egypt secured three spots in the top rankings, highlighting the competitive prowess of North African football.

However, it wasn’t all smooth sailing for Nigerian clubs in this edition of the rankings. Despite their commendable performance, Rivers United fell short of securing a spot in the top 20, despite reaching the quarter-finals of the Confederation Cup this season.

The Pride of Rivers had previously held the 18th position in the rankings, showcasing their consistency and strength in African football. Unfortunately, their journey in the rankings was halted this time around.

Nigeria’s absence from the top rankings can be attributed to the underwhelming performance of Enyimba International and Remo Stars in the Champions League this season. Their inability to advance further in the prestigious tournament impacted the country’s representation in the elite club rankings.

Analyzing the regional distribution within the rankings, North Africa emerges as a dominant force with 12 clubs securing positions, showcasing the footballing prowess of countries like Morocco, Egypt, and Tunisia. Southern Africa follows with three clubs represented, while West Africa secures two spots in the top 20, reflecting the diverse talent and competitive landscape across the continent.

As African football continues to evolve and witness intense competitions, the club rankings serve as a testament to the dedication, skill, and determination of clubs across the region, setting the stage for future sporting excellence and achievements on the continental stage.
