The Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM) convened its concluding joint meeting with the 2023-2024 Advisory Committees and Councils, marking the start of the EXIM Annual Conference 2024.
Held at the Washington Hilton, the event featured key discussions led by EXIM President and Chair Reta Jo Lewis, who praised the committees for their valuable contributions to advancing American exports.
Chair Lewis emphasized the importance of the insights and recommendations provided by the Advisory Committee, Sub-Saharan Africa Advisory Committee, and the Councils on Climate, China Competition, Small Business, and Advancing Women in Business.
“The collective decades of experience and insight from these groups are crucial to EXIM’s mission of supporting American exports,” Lewis stated.
Senator Heidi Heitkamp, Chair of the Advisory Committee, and Jude Kearney, Chair of the Sub-Saharan Africa Advisory Committee, delivered introductory remarks.
The meeting included presentations from EXIM staff and council chairs, highlighting the recommendations aimed at aligning EXIM’s strategies with the Biden-Harris Administration’s priorities.
The session concluded with a question and answer segment before being adjourned by Sen. Heitkamp. Chair Lewis remarked on the significance of this event, especially in the context of EXIM’s 90th anniversary, noting, “This joint meeting is a fantastic way to kick off our Annual Conference, fostering collaboration and coordination with our advisory committees and councils.”
