Ballon d’Or 2024: Winner To Be Crowned Tonight, Catch All You Need To Know Ahead Of Tonight’s Ceremony.

The prestigious 2024 Ballon d’Or ceremony is set to take place in Paris on Monday, with several standout Premier League players vying for football’s highest individual honour. This year’s event, marking the 68th annual awards, will celebrate top performances from the 2023–2024 season across multiple categories.

Notable nominees from the Premier League include Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice, and Martin Ødegaard, Manchester City’s Rodri, Erling Haaland, and Phil Foden, as well as Chelsea’s rising star Cole Palmer. Their impressive performances have not only driven club success but also showcased their abilities on the international stage.

Since its establishment in 1956, the Ballon d’Or has been awarded by France Football magazine, recognising players, coaches, and clubs who demonstrate excellence. In addition to the top male and female players, awards will be given for best goalkeeper, top scorer, and humanitarian contributions. This year’s ceremony, held at the Theatre du Chatelet, will air at 19:45 GMT on L’Equipe’s YouTube channel.

The eyes of the footballing world will be on Paris on Monday for the 2024 Ballon d’Or awards, with plenty of interest across the globe once again.

The ceremony will mark the 68th edition of the prestigious awards, which are held annually in the French capital.

There will be several categories at the event, with all eyes on who succeeds Lionel Messi, the winner of the 2023 Ballon d’Or.

The event will take place at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris on Monday 28 October.

The evening gets under way at 19.45 GMT and will be broadcast live on L’Equipe’s YouTube channel and website.

Who decides the winner?

The shortlists are revealed almost two months before the event. Voting is then carried out by 100 journalists, with one selected from the top 100 countries in the FIFA men’s rankings.

The judges are asked to consider three areas: Individual performance, decisiveness and impressiveness, their collective performance and track record as well as fair play.

Judging is conducted by a select group of 100 journalists from the top FIFA-ranked nations. Each journalist submits their top 10 picks from a 30-man shortlist, with points awarded on a sliding scale from 15 to 1. Criteria for the award include individual skill, decisiveness, team contributions, and sportsmanship.

As fans and analysts speculate on who might succeed 2023 winner Lionel Messi, anticipation builds for a memorable evening celebrating the finest in world football.
