Formula 1 Prepares For Thrilling 2025 Season: Big Changes, New Drivers, and Exciting Milestones.

The curtain has closed on the record-breaking 2024 Formula 1 season, which saw Max Verstappen secure his fourth drivers’ title and McLaren celebrate their first Constructors’ Championship since 1998. With the 2025 season marking the 75th anniversary of the Formula 1 World Championship, anticipation is already building for what promises to be an electrifying year on the grid.

 Hamilton Joins Ferrari

One of the most anticipated moves is Lewis Hamilton’s switch from Mercedes to Ferrari. After a glittering 12-year stint with Mercedes, where he claimed six world titles, the seven-time champion is donning Ferrari red for the first time in his illustrious career. Hamilton, who turns 40 in January, will partner Charles Leclerc as he embarks on this new chapter. Fans will get their first glimpse of Hamilton in Ferrari colours during pre-season testing in Bahrain from 26-28 February, ahead of the season opener in Australia from 14-16 March.

Red Bull’s Future

Sergio Perez remains with Red Bull after signing a two-year extension in June, but rumours persist regarding his long-term future. With team principal Christian Horner hinting at a review of the season, names like Yuki Tsunoda and Liam Lawson have been linked as potential replacements. Red Bull’s reserve driver, Isack Hadjar, is also making waves and could step up from Formula 2.

 Rising Stars

The 2025 grid will feature several exciting rookies. Andrea Kimi Antonelli, 18, joins Mercedes, filling the void left by Hamilton. Antonelli’s rapid rise from Formula 2 has been nothing short of spectacular. Oliver Bearman, another promising talent, steps into a full-time role at Haas after impressing during substitute appearances in 2024. Additionally, Brazilian F2 champion Gabriel Bortoleto joins Sauber, and Jack Doohan, son of MotoGP legend Mick Doohan, will race for Alpine.

 Sainz Moves to Williams

Carlos Sainz, who delivered four wins during his Ferrari tenure, has found a new home at Williams. With Hamilton arriving at Ferrari and Mercedes opting for Antonelli, Sainz embraced the challenge of leading Williams. Team principal James Vowles described the move as part of Williams’ long-term resurgence strategy.

 Calendar Updates

The 2025 season will feature 24 races, with Australia reclaiming its spot as the season opener. Bahrain and Saudi Arabia move to April due to Ramadan, while Spa-Francorchamps will host its first sprint race since 2023. The campaign concludes on 7 December in Abu Dhabi.

A Milestone Launch

To celebrate Formula 1’s 75th anniversary, all 10 teams will unveil their 2025 liveries together at a grand season launch event in London’s O2 Arena on 18 February. This historic gathering promises to set the tone for what could be one of the most competitive seasons in recent memory.

With established stars switching teams, fresh talent joining the grid, and exciting calendar updates, Formula 1 fans have much to look forward to as the sport enters its diamond anniversary.
