Tinubu Urges NIPSS Graduates To Lead Nigeria’s Digital Transformation.

President Bola Tinubu has called on graduates of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) and other policymakers to take the lead in driving Nigeria’s digital transformation and tech-driven economic growth.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony of the Senior Executive Course 46 of NIPSS in Kuru, Plateau State, on Friday, Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to revitalising the institute. He outlined plans to fully digitise its operations, develop an advanced e-library, and establish virtual learning platforms to ensure that executive education remains innovative and accessible.

The President highlighted the crucial role of policy research, youth empowerment, and technological innovation in shaping Nigeria’s future. He noted that this year’s course theme, “Digital Economy, Youth Empowerment, and Sustainable Job Creation in Nigeria,” aligns with the government’s priorities.

“The task ahead is not an easy one, but I have no doubt that you are equal to it. You must return to your organisations and communities with a renewed sense of purpose, knowing that the future of our nation rests, in part, on the quality of leadership you provide,” Tinubu said.

Emphasising the importance of technology in economic transformation, Tinubu pointed out that Nigeria’s youthful population, which makes up over 60% of the country, is its greatest asset. He stressed the need to harness their energy, creativity, and technological skills to drive national development.

“Young people are our greatest asset. Their energy, creativity, and technological prowess must be fully harnessed to propel our country into a new era of economic transformation. This is an investment we cannot afford to take for granted,” he stated.

The President assured that his administration is committed to initiatives such as expanding broadband infrastructure, fostering digital entrepreneurship, and implementing the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy. He emphasised that these measures would help Nigeria maximise the potential of its youth and position the country for the evolving global digital economy.

“We are going nowhere unless we are well positioned to utilise technology in our daily lives and guide our industries towards the demands of this new wave of industrial revolution,” Tinubu added.

The event reaffirmed the government’s focus on digital innovation as a key driver of economic growth, urging the newly graduated policy experts to contribute actively to Nigeria’s digital transformation agenda.
