Trump Condemns Vandalism At Turnberry Golf Resort, Calls Suspects “Terrorists”.
U.S. President Donald Trump has condemned the vandalism of his Turnberry golf resort in Scotland, referring to the suspects as “terrorists.” The incident, which occurred in early March, saw the clubhouse defaced with red paint while parts of the course were dug up and painted with the phrase “Gaza is not for sale.”
Police Scotland confirmed the arrest of a 33-year-old man, who has been charged in connection with the act. A 75-year-old man and a 66-year-old woman were also arrested but later released pending further inquiries.
Reacting to the incident, Mr. Trump stated that he had been informed of the arrests by British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and thanked UK law enforcement for their response. “They did serious damage, and will hopefully be treated harshly,” he wrote on his social media platform.
The activist group Palestine Action claimed responsibility for the vandalism, describing it as a response to Mr. Trump’s stance on Gaza. The group posted footage of the damage on social media, stating, “Whilst Trump attempts to treat Gaza as his property, he should know his own property is within reach.”
A spokesperson for Trump Turnberry condemned the act, calling it “childish” and “criminal” but assured that the resort’s operations would not be affected. They emphasised that Turnberry remains a “national treasure” and will continue to uphold its reputation for luxury and excellence in golf.
Police Scotland have launched a full investigation into the matter and are appealing to the public for any information related to the incident.
