Tinubu Pledges Transformative Development For Anambra And Southeast Nigeria.

President Bola Tinubu has vowed to tackle pressing developmental challenges in Anambra and the broader Southeast region, promising transformative investments in infrastructure, security, and ecological management. The pledge came during a one-day working visit to Awka on Thursday, where the President addressed a civic reception at Alex Ekwueme Square.

Speaking to a enthusiastic crowd, Tinubu outlined his administration’s commitment to addressing longstanding issues, including rampant erosion, the underutilisation of Anambra’s gas reserves, and the region’s exclusion from the National Rail Master Plan. He also promised to prioritise the completion of critical road projects, particularly those linking Anambra to Kogi State, which would enhance connectivity to the South-South and the capital, Abuja.

Responding directly to concerns raised by Anambra Governor Chukwuma Soludo about abandoned federal road projects, Tinubu assured residents that the Federal Ministry of Transportation would rectify the omission of the Southeast from the rail master plan. He further pledged federal support for ecological initiatives to combat erosion, a persistent challenge in the region, and vowed to integrate Anambra’s gas reserves into the National Gas Master Plan.

Tinubu underscored the importance of national unity through inclusive development, stating, “Our commitment is to build a Nigeria where every region thrives. Anambra and the Southeast are integral to this vision.” He also reaffirmed the federal government’s dedication to collaborating with state authorities to bolster security, ensuring peace and prosperity for all residents.

Governor Soludo hailed the President’s visit as a “new dawn” for federal-state collaboration. He praised Tinubu’s leadership and expressed pride in aligning Anambra’s people-centric programmes—such as free education, healthcare for women, and youth empowerment—with the federal government’s Renewed Hope Agenda. “This visit marks a milestone in our shared journey towards progress,” Soludo said.

The President’s promises have sparked optimism among residents, who see the commitments as a step toward addressing decades of infrastructural neglect. With federal and state governments pledging to work hand in hand, Anambra and the Southeast stand on the cusp of a brighter, more connected future.
