Super Falcons Soar Past Cameroon In Commanding 2–0 Victory.

The Super Falcons of Nigeria delivered a stellar performance on Tuesday evening, defeating Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses 2–0 in an international friendly at the MKO sports Arena Abeokuta. Captain Rasheedat Ajibade proved the hero, netting both goals in a dominant first-half display that showcased Nigeria’s attacking prowess and defensive resilience.

The deadlock was broken in the 28th minute when Ajibade coolly converted a penalty, awarded after a Cameroonian defensive error. Her composure from the spot set the tone for Nigeria’s control of the match. Just before the halftime whistle, Ajibade struck again, latching onto a precise pass from Rinsola Babajide to fire home in the second minute of stoppage time (45+2’). The goal, a product of swift interplay, sent the home crowd into raptures and secured a 2–0 lead at the break.

In the second half, coach Justin Madugu made tactical substitutions to maintain Nigeria’s momentum. Bolaji Olamide and Christy Ucheibe replaced Babajide and Toni Payne, while Cordella Odoma later came on for Jennifer Echegini to bolster the midfield. Despite Cameroon’s late push and five minutes of added time, the Super Falcons’ defence, marshalled with discipline, held firm to secure a clean sheet.

The victory bolsters Nigeria’s confidence as they prepare for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco. Fans and analysts alike will be encouraged by the team’s cohesive performance, with Ajibade’s leadership and clinical finishing standing out.

Next up, the Super Falcons will face Portugal in another friendly, as they fine-tune their preparations for what promises to be a thrilling summer of African women’s football. With momentum building, Nigeria’s sights are firmly set on continental glory.
