Victor Osimhen Rejects Al Hilal Move, Galatasaray Back In The Race For Napoli Star

Victor Osimhen Rejects Al Hilal Move, Galatasaray Back In The Race For Napoli Star.

In a dramatic twist in the summer transfer window, Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has turned down a lucrative move to Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal, reigniting the race for his signature. The 26-year-old Nigerian forward, widely regarded as one of the finest strikers in world football, has opened the door for a potential permanent switch to Turkish giants Galatasaray, where he spent the 2024/25 season on loan.

Despite a club-to-club agreement between Napoli and Al Hilal for a £63 million (€75 million) transfer fee, Osimhen has firmly rejected the proposal from the Saudi outfit. The deal, which would have seen the prolific striker earn a staggering salary, appeared to be on the verge of completion, but Osimhen’s decision to snub the move has thrown the transfer saga wide open once again.

Osimhen enjoyed a sensational loan spell at Galatasaray last season, netting an impressive 37 goals in 41 appearances across all competitions. His remarkable form helped the Istanbul-based club secure the Turkish Super Lig title by a commanding 11-point margin, as well as lifting the Turkish Cup. The forward’s performances in Turkey have endeared him to the Galatasaray faithful, and the club is now set to push hard to secure his services on a permanent basis.

Sources close to the situation indicate that Osimhen remains keen to continue his career in Europe, with a preference for a competitive league and the chance to compete in the UEFA Champions League. Galatasaray, having qualified for Europe’s premier club competition next season, are believed to be in a strong position to offer both.

Napoli, however, are holding firm on their valuation, insisting that any interested party meet the player’s £63 million release clause. The Serie A side, who won the Italian top flight in 2022/23 with Osimhen leading the line, are determined to maximise their return on the striker, who is entering the final year of his contract.

The rejection of Al Hilal’s proposal has also sparked renewed speculation about interest from Premier League clubs. Manchester United, Chelsea, and Arsenal have all been linked with the Nigerian star in recent months, with the Red Devils reportedly viewing him as a potential solution to their goal-scoring woes. However, Galatasaray’s strong relationship with Osimhen, combined with their determination to keep him in Istanbul, could prove decisive in the race for his signature.

As the transfer window progresses, all eyes will be on Osimhen and his next move. Will the prolific forward remain in Turkey with Galatasaray, or could a late bid from a European heavyweight turn his head? The coming days promise to be pivotal in deciding the future of one of football’s most sought-after talents.
