Porsha Williams’ Estranged Husband Simon Guobadia Deported To Nigeria After ICE Detention

Porsha Williams’ Estranged Husband Simon Guobadia Deported To Nigeria After ICE Detention.

Simon Guobadia, the estranged husband of Real Housewives of Atlanta star Porsha Williams, has been deported to his native Nigeria following months of detention by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The 61-year-old businessman was released from Stewart Detention Center in Lumpkin, Georgia, and placed on a flight back to Nigeria earlier this week, according to a close friend, Tai Savet, in a statement to Us Weekly.

Guobadia’s detention began in February 2025, amid a high-profile divorce from Williams, 43, which has been marked by legal disputes and public scrutiny. The Nigerian-born entrepreneur, who first arrived in the United States in 1982, faced longstanding immigration issues, including overstaying visas and a prior deportation in 1992. His latest citizenship application was denied in January 2025, leading to his arrest as part of President Donald Trump’s mass deportation initiative.

Despite the challenging conditions at Stewart Detention Center, Savet reported that Guobadia remains in “good spirits” and is focused on maintaining a positive outlook. In a surprising twist, Guobadia reportedly expressed no resentment towards Trump and even hopes to secure a meeting with the U.S. President to discuss his situation.

Williams, who filed for divorce in February 2024 after 15 months of marriage, addressed Guobadia’s detention earlier this year, calling it “disheartening” and stating her focus was on moving forward with her family. The RHOA star has since secured significant legal victories, including exclusive use of their shared Georgia residence and the upholding of their prenuptial agreement, which entitles her to legal expenses.

Social media reactions on X have been mixed, with some expressing sympathy for Guobadia’s deportation, while others view it as a consequence of his immigration violations. One user remarked, “From luxury to luggage, real-life plot twist they don’t teach in business school,” capturing the dramatic turn in Guobadia’s journey.

As Williams continues to navigate her divorce and her role on The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Guobadia’s deportation marks a significant chapter in their contentious saga. With his return to Nigeria, questions remain about how the divorce proceedings will progress across continents, but for now, Guobadia is said to be embracing his new chapter with resilience.
