Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has asked his political rivals to accept the will of the people, following fresh endorsements of his second-term bid by major student bodies in the state.
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Joint Campus Council (JCC), Osun Axis, and the National Association of Osun State Students (NAOS) declared their support for the Governor at an event held in the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Osogbo.
In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke said his rivals should stop pretending to have the people’s backing when their past performance showed otherwise.
“We hope some failed opposition aspirants can see what Osun people are seeing and acknowledging. We hope those aspirants who failed their people when they had the opportunity can accept their past failures and surrender to the wish of Osun people for Imole continuity,” he said.
The Governor also thanked workers, farmers, market leaders, artisans, students, and youths for supporting his government, promising to deliver more developmental projects. He announced the approval of two coastal buses for NANS and NAOS, technical assessment of internal campus roads, and urgent attention to bursary issues.
Chairman of NANS/JCC, Osun Axis, Comrade Ayobami Abel, commended Adeleke’s record, saying:
“Your dedication to the service of your people is second to none. I declare here today that your administration has performed far better than the 12 years of the previous APC government. That is a fact that is self-evident across Osun today.”
NAOS National President, Adedibu Mustafa, also praised the Governor’s achievements, stressing that his performance had set a new benchmark for governance.
“You earned those endorsements because of your exceptional performance despite threats and intimidation. You have set a high standard of governance. We, your children, appreciate you and your love for the people and we pledge to stand by you and your party now and in the future,” Mustafa said.
