In response to the alarming rise of Adulterated Drinks in Lagos, the Lagos Safety Commission and NAFDAC are joining forces to ensure public health is safeguarded.
The Director-General of the Lagos Safety Commission, Mr. Lanre Mojola, and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Mr. Idris Aregbe, expressed their concerns in a joint statement issued after a recent meeting in Alausa.
The officials strongly condemned the proliferation of adulterated drinks in bars, lounges, and nightclubs, emphasizing the unprecedented health risks posed to the public.
Describing the act as condemnable, irresponsible, and wicked, the officials called on citizens to value and cherish every life, urging everyone to play a role in curbing this menace. Mr. Mojola emphasized the government’s zero-tolerance stance on the sale of adulterated drinks, stating that it is a harmful activity jeopardizing the safety and well-being of fun seekers.
To address this issue, Mr. Mojola revealed that the Lagos Safety Commission, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and other relevant agencies, will join forces with NAFDAC to ensure the safety of Lagosians.
The State Government plans to initiate periodic and unscheduled visits to nightclubs to curb the menace and impose sanctions on erring establishments.
