Africa To Unite Against Road Crash Victims

Nigeria is set to host the International Road Crash Victims Africa Conference (IRCVAC) in Abuja from November 16 to 18, 2025.

This conference, coinciding with the 2025 World Remembrance Day/African Road Safety Day, aims to bring together experts, policymakers, and stakeholders to discuss critical issues surrounding road crash victims and find solutions to reduce road crashes.

The conference is organized by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in collaboration with KRSD, a Road Safety NGO founded by Justice Monica Dongbam Mensem. The event has garnered support from prominent partners, including the United Nations, World Health Organization, United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, and the African Union.

According to reports, Nigeria loses over N800 billion annually to road crashes, making this conference a crucial step towards addressing the country’s road safety challenges. The conference seeks to provide a platform for stakeholders to share knowledge, experiences, and best practices in addressing road crash victims’ needs and reducing road crashes.

Experts and policymakers will gather to discuss ways to mitigate the impact of road crashes on victims and their families. The conference will also provide an opportunity for stakeholders to identify areas for improvement in road safety and develop strategies to address these challenges.

The IRCVAC conference is expected to attract participants from across Africa and beyond, making it a significant event in the region’s road safety calendar. With the high stakes involved, the conference’s outcome is eagerly anticipated by road safety stakeholders.

By hosting this conference, Nigeria is taking a proactive step towards improving road safety and reducing the number of road crashes. The event’s success will depend on the collective efforts of participants and stakeholders working together to develop effective solutions.
