“All She Does Is Complain,” Trump Says While Withdrawing Support For Greene’s Anti–H-1B Visa Legislation

Greene’s proposal to shut down the H-1B visa program sparks unexpected backlash from Trump.

In a dramatic turn among close Republican allies, President Donald Trump reportedly erupted in frustration on Wednesday, declaring “Complain, complain, complain!” as he publicly distanced himself from Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene following her introduction of a controversial bill aimed at phasing out the H-1B visa program.

The bill — which Greene framed as a protectionist measure to “shield American workers from foreign labor competition” — sparked immediate debate across conservative and business communities. While Greene insisted her proposal was designed to bolster domestic employment, Trump’s reaction suggested a sharp divide over immigration-related economic policy within his political circle.

According to individuals familiar with the exchange, the president grew increasingly irritated after Greene criticized Republicans she viewed as insufficiently supportive of her effort. Trump, who has historically vacillated between hardline immigration actions and business-friendly visa stances, reportedly felt Greene’s bill risked alienating industries that rely heavily on high-skilled foreign workers.

“Marjorie is always complaining about something,” Trump was overheard saying at an advisor meeting, according to one source. “Complain, complain, complain — that’s all it is. I’m not backing this one.”

Political analysts say the sudden rift is notable given Greene’s long-standing loyalty to Trump and her frequent alignment with his messaging. Some observers believe Trump is maneuvering to protect his relationships with tech-sector donors, while others see the dispute as evidence of intensifying ideological fractures within the GOP’s populist wing.

Greene’s office responded tersely, saying only that she “will continue fighting for American workers,” and declined to comment on Trump’s remarks.

Republican leadership has so far remained silent, though several members privately expressed relief that Trump distanced himself from the proposal, which they feared could disrupt districts with growing tech employment.

Despite the flare-up, insiders say the alliance between Trump and Greene is unlikely to collapse entirely. “They’ve weathered worse disagreements,” one strategist noted. “But this is the first time in a while Trump has broken with her so loudly.”

The fate of Greene’s H-1B bill remains uncertain, but observers widely expect it to face significant resistance even among Republicans. Meanwhile, the episode marks another unpredictable shift in the dynamics of Trump-aligned factions in Congress as the party prepares for a contentious election year.
