A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Joe Igbokwe, has mocked the African Democratic Congress over its alleged absence in the ongoing governorship election in Anambra State.
Igbokwe claimed that ADC was nowhere to be found in polling units and wards, saying the party will soon start shouting “rigging”. “Very soon they will start shouting Rigging, Rigging, Rigging. So that you know”, he wrote on his Facebook page.
The Independent National Electoral Commission is conducting the gubernatorial election in Anambra to elect a governor for the next four years. ADC, APC, PDP, APGA, Labour Party, and other parties are participating in the election. The election is ongoing, with voters casting their ballots.
Igbokwe’s comment has sparked reactions, with some supporting his stance. The outcome of the election is still uncertain, with several candidates contesting the governorship seat.
The electoral body has not released any official statement on the incident. Security agencies are present to maintain order, and the process has been described as peaceful so far.
Some voters reported long queues and delays, but the election is progressing. The governorship seat is being contested by prominent candidates.
The election is expected to be a keenly contested one, with several parties vying for the top position.
