Anambra ICT Agency Launches 25 WiFi Sites Under Soludo’s Digitization Initiative

The Anambra State ICT Agency has activated 25 live WiFi sites across the state as part of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s digitization program.

This initiative aims to provide free, high-speed internet access to residents, students, and businesses, bridging the digital divide and fostering economic growth. The program seeks to provide equitable access to technology, empowering citizens and promoting digital literacy.

The 25 live WiFi sites are strategically located in schools, public spaces, and government institutions to ensure widespread coverage. By providing internet access, the program aims to boost economic activities, innovation, and entrepreneurship in the state. Governor Soludo’s decision to waive Right of Way charges for broadband infrastructure has been instrumental in unlocking opportunities for fibre-to-home deployment, infrastructure expansion, and faster internet across communities.

This move has created an enabling environment for innovators, telecom operators, and entrepreneurs to thrive. Residents can now access high-speed internet, enabling them to stay connected, learn, and work online. The program helps to reduce the gap between those with access to technology and those without. By providing internet access, the program can attract businesses, investments, and talent to the state.

The Anambra State government has also introduced a Mobile Tech Hub, a custom-built bus providing free WiFi to residents, students, and businesses, further expanding internet access in the state. Additionally, the Smart School Project aims to distribute laptops and digital tools to schools, promoting digital learning and 21st-century skills development.

The program is expected to have a significant impact on the state’s economy and education sector. With improved internet access, residents can now access online resources, educational materials, and job opportunities. The program will also enable businesses to operate more efficiently, access new markets, and increase their online presence.

The Anambra State ICT Agency’s initiative is a step towards creating a digitally inclusive society, where everyone has access to the opportunities and benefits of the digital age. The program is a testament to Governor Soludo’s commitment to promoting digital literacy and economic growth in the state.
