Anambra Police Nab Suspect with Severed Breast, Rescue Kidnapped Driver.

The Anambra State Police Command has made significant strides in combating crime, with the arrest of a 25-year-old man found in possession of a severed female breast in Awada, Obosi. The suspect, Samuel Eze, was detained on 6 July by a joint security team comprising officers from the Awada Police Station and Anambra Vigilante operatives during a routine patrol along Jude Onyekwere Street at approximately 3:30 p.m. According to DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the command’s spokesperson, the recovered body part was promptly deposited in a morgue for preservation, and Eze is currently undergoing interrogation as investigations proceed to uncover the circumstances behind the disturbing discovery.

In a separate operation, the police demonstrated their commitment to public safety by rescuing a kidnapped truck driver and recovering goods valued at over ₦9.5 million. The operation, conducted by the command’s Rapid Response Squad, took place on 4 July at around 12:45 p.m. in Enugwu Ukwu, Njikoka Local Government Area, following actionable intelligence. The squad successfully retrieved a truck loaded with custard powder, which had been diverted by a criminal gang. Three suspects, identified as Udegenyi Ugochukwu, aged 38, Anayochukwu Okonkwo, aged 47, and Good Odigili, aged 47, were apprehended. The suspects confessed to abducting the driver, tying him up in a bush, and redirecting the goods to Enugwu Ukwu, having originally intended to deliver them to a warehouse in Asaba, Delta State.

DSP Ikenga reiterated the command’s dedication to maintaining security across Anambra, highlighting the ongoing joint patrols involving the police, military, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Department of State Services, Immigration Service, and Anambra Vigilante Group. He assured residents that the police remain steadfast in their efforts to eradicate criminal elements and ensure justice, urging the public to continue providing timely information to support these operations.
