Andrés Iniesta Announces Retirement From Professional Football.

Football legend Andrés Iniesta has officially confirmed his retirement from professional football, bringing an end to an illustrious career that spanned over two decades. Iniesta, revered as one of the greatest midfielders in the history of the sport, leaves behind an extraordinary legacy, having amassed a collection of some of the most coveted trophies in football.

Iniesta’s trophy haul includes:

– 1 FIFA World Cup (2010)

– 2 UEFA European Championships (2008, 2012)

– 4 UEFA Champions League titles

– 9 La Liga titles with Barcelona

– 3 FIFA Club World Cups

– 3 UEFA Super Cups

– 6 Copa del Rey titles

– 7 Supercopa de España titles

– 1 J-League title, 1 Emperor’s Cup, and 1 Japanese Super Cup with Vissel Kobe

Over his career, Iniesta played for three clubs: Barcelona, Vissel Kobe in Japan, and Emirates Club in the UAE. At Barcelona, he made 442 league appearances and scored 35 goals between 2002 and 2018. His time in Japan saw him contribute 21 goals in 114 appearances for Vissel Kobe from 2018 to 2023. After a brief stint at Emirates Club, where he made 20 appearances and scored five goals, Iniesta called time on his career.

Internationally, Iniesta earned 131 caps for Spain, scoring 13 goals. He famously netted the winning goal in the 2010 FIFA World Cup final, securing Spain’s first-ever world title. He was also instrumental in Spain’s back-to-back European Championship triumphs in 2008 and 2012.

As he bids farewell to professional football, Iniesta will be remembered not just for his technical brilliance and vision on the pitch, but also for the grace and sportsmanship with which he carried himself throughout his career. A true legend of the game, his influence on football will be felt for generations to come.
