The U.S Secretary, Antony Blinken, has emphasized the importance of fostering inclusive economies and international partnerships.
In a recent interview, Blinken highlighted the potential economic boost of $28 trillion if women were included in the economy equally with men.
“If women were included in the economy equally with men, we would add $28 trillion to the global economy. That’s extraordinary,” He stated
Blinken stressed that such partnerships should be a win-win, benefiting both investors and the communities involved.
“It has to work for the communities here in Africa, not just for the investors. It’s precisely by listening to the communities that we ensure what we’re doing is truly win-win.”
Responding to concerns about major powers vying for influence in Africa, he asserted that it’s not about forcing choices but presenting good options for the people to decide.
He also acknowledged Africa’s role in global affairs, stating that the U.S. aims to learn from positive examples, particularly in the context of hosting the World Cup in 2026.
“I’m here, taking notes, watching, listening. The work here in Côte d’Ivoire is remarkable, in terms of organization and professionalism, and we need to learn,”
“We need to learn the positive lessons from what’s happening here because we do have a challenge ahead of us in organizing the World Cup.”
He expressed admiration for the organization and professionalism displayed during the Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire, underlining the need for the U.S. to learn valuable lessons in preparation for their own hosting responsibilities.
