The All Progressives Congress has accused Atiku Abubakar, a presidential aspirant and leader of the Peoples Democratic Party, of laying the foundation for Nigeria’s current insecurity.
This statement was made in response to Atiku’s comments on the recent terrorist attack in Adamawa State. According to the APC, Atiku’s remarks were “shameless grandstanding and politicization of grief”. The APC stated that Atiku and the PDP government he once served laid the foundation for the insecurity Nigeria is battling today.
“Atiku and the PDP government he once served laid the foundation for the insecurity we are battling today. Surprisingly, Atiku, whose tragic failure at leadership contributed immensely to the current insecurity, is now shamelessly using the very monster he helped create to further his wicked and diabolic plan to destabilize the country,” the APC stated. The party’s Adamawa State Publicity Secretary, Hon. Mohammed Abdullahi, described Atiku’s comments as riddled with inaccuracies and laced with political innuendos.
Abdullahi emphasized that Atiku failed to attract meaningful development projects to Adamawa during his years in power, neglecting his community of Jada while focusing on personal business interests. Atiku had made a statement on the recent terrorist attack in Wagga Mongoro, Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State, which the APC described as “shameless politicization of grief”.
The APC assured residents of Adamawa that the current administration remains committed to supporting the military and security agencies in restoring lasting peace to the state and the North-East. The party commiserated with the victims of the Madagali attack, praying for the bereaved and wounded, while urging citizens to remain vigilant and resist Atiku’s “empty posturing”.
“The APC government Atiku wants to discredit at all cost is doing a good job in cleaning the Augean stable. Competent, patriotic and committed hands are manning the situation now actively supporting our gallant armed forces and security agents,” the party stated. The APC emphasized that Atiku’s comments were a stark reminder of his disconnect from the people he claims to champion.
The party’s statement concluded by reaffirming the APC’s commitment to ensuring that the insurgents are finally defeated and expressing solidarity with the victims of the Wagga Mongoro attack.
