APC Chairman Calls for Arrest Of Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso Over Insecurity Allegations

Abdullahi Abbas, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, has urged security agencies to arrest Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso.

Abbas’s call follows Kwankwaso’s accusations that the federal government is fostering insecurity in the state.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Abbas demanded that Kwankwaso be detained and compelled to identify those he claims are recruiting Boko Haram terrorists under federal directives. “We want to call on security agents in the strongest terms to arrest this man so that he reveals the identity of the people he referred to as enemies of the state working for the federal government to recruit Boko Haram terrorists and insurgents,” Abbas declared.

Kwankwaso’s allegations were made during a flag-off ceremony for an 85-kilometre rural road in Madobi on Monday. Abbas condemned these remarks, suggesting they reveal a sinister plan by Kwankwaso to incite unrest in Kano.

“Kwankwaso has for long been a security threat to Kano and the nation in view of his antecedents,” Abbas asserted. He accused Kwankwaso of leading a cult-like movement, Kwankwasiyya, and enlisting youths, mostly school dropouts, to commit violence in the state.

The APC Chairman also recounted alleged incidents before and during the 2023 election, claiming that Kwankwaso empowered numerous youths to intimidate the public through physical attacks and property destruction.

Furthermore, Abbas mentioned alleged threats made by Kwankwaso and his associates against judges during the legal battle over the governorship election.

Since the contentious appointment of Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as Emir, Abbas claimed armed thugs have been stationed at the Emir’s Palace, where illicit substances are openly sold, posing a threat to nearby residents.

Abbas emphasized that the federal government would not be intimidated by Kwankwaso’s threats.
