Supporters of Chief Olusola Oke, Wale Akinterinwa, and Hon Jimi Odimayo, all members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), staged a protest on Sunday evening at the party’s state secretariat in Akure.
Carrying placards with various grievances, they demanded the cancellation of the recent primary elections, labelling them a “monumental disaster.”
The protesters alleged that the primary election process was marred by irregularities, claiming that electoral officers failed to show up in all wards across Ondo State.
Their placards bore messages such as “No election in Ondo,” “We demand fairness and justice,” and “Primary Election materials were not distributed in all wards.”
Adeniran Oyebade, speaking on behalf of the demonstrators as the Director General for Olusola Oke Campaign Organisation in Ondo Central Senatorial District, accused the APC of orchestrating a “broad-day light robbery.” He claimed that instead of conducting a fair election, party officials remained in Akure and fabricated results for 203 wards across the state.
Oyebade emphasised the protesters’ demand for the most popular candidate, one familiar to the people of Ondo State. He denounced the purported winner of the election and called for the suspension of those involved in what he described as “election crime.”
The group insisted on the cancellation of the election, asserting that it was invalid due to the absence of a genuine electoral process. They vowed to continue their protest until their demands for a free and fair primary election were met.
