Armed Man Shot Dead By Police Outside Milton Keynes Railway Station.

A man has been shot dead by police outside Milton Keynes Central railway station following reports that he was armed with a knife and possibly a firearm. The incident occurred at approximately 12:55 BST, prompting an immediate response from Thames Valley Police (TVP) armed officers.

According to police, the suspect, described as a white male, was challenged outside the station before moving quickly towards officers with a knife. In response, a single shot was fired. Despite immediate life-saving efforts at the scene, the man was pronounced dead at 13:44.

A witness at the station, Hever Marin, recalled hearing a “very loud” gunshot and seeing two armed officers attempting to resuscitate the man. “They tried for at least 10 minutes, but the guy wasn’t reacting,” he said. A photo seen by the BBC showed the officers providing medical assistance near the Pret A Manger café.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has launched an investigation and confirmed that its officers have been deployed to the scene. A spokesperson stated that the IOPC will examine the actions and decisions made by the police during the incident.

Co-op store employee Barentina Corredor described the experience as “quite shocking”. She added: “They were trying so hard with CPR. When I heard the noise, I thought we had to hide. I was scared.”

Nearby residents and station users expressed concern, with one witness noting the significant police presence that followed. Edith Brockbank, 67, who lives above the station, said: “There was all sorts of activity trying to get people back. Someone was filming it, and the police told them to move.”

Shazna Muzammil, Conservative group leader at Milton Keynes City Council, expressed her sympathy in a post on X (formerly Twitter): “Deeply shocked by what has happened. Very thankful to the police and emergency services for their swift response in keeping everyone safe.”

TVP has confirmed that there is no further risk to the public. British Transport Police and other law enforcement personnel remained at the station overnight to reassure travellers and assist with enquiries. Passengers were redirected around a large cordon set up at the station’s entrance, where forensic investigators continued to examine the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
