Arsenal Secure 400th Premier League Home Win With Comeback Victory Over Southampton.

Arsenal came from behind to secure a 3-1 win over struggling Southampton at the Emirates Stadium, maintaining their unbeaten start to the Premier League season. Goals from Kai Havertz, Gabriel Martinelli, and Bukayo Saka ensured the Gunners overturned an early setback to claim all three points.

The victory also marked a historic milestone for Arsenal, as they became only the second club in Premier League history to reach 400 home wins. With this result, Mikel Arteta’s side remains within a point of league leaders Liverpool ahead of the international break.

Despite Southampton’s winless start to the season, they stunned the home crowd by taking the lead early in the second half. Cameron Archer finished a swift counter-attack, capitalising on a rare mistake by Raheem Sterling, who was making his first Premier League start for Arsenal. Sterling was dispossessed by Mateus Fernandes, allowing Archer to break through and put the Saints ahead.

However, Southampton’s lead was short-lived as Arsenal responded just three minutes later. Havertz levelled the score with a beautifully placed shot that went in off the post, sparking a revival for the Gunners. Martinelli then completed the turnaround, perfectly timing his run to meet Saka’s cross at the back post, making it 2-1.

Southampton, though under pressure for most of the match, fought back valiantly. The visitors came close to equalising twice, first when Dibling’s effort deflected onto the post and then when Adam Armstrong’s header struck the crossbar from a corner. But they could not find a breakthrough, and Arsenal ultimately put the game out of reach in the closing stages.

Saka, who had already provided two assists, capped off an impressive performance by scoring Arsenal’s third goal with a clinical finish. The young winger now has seven assists in as many Premier League matches this season, and his contribution continues to be pivotal for Arsenal’s success.

Manager Mikel Arteta was full of praise for Saka after the match, describing him as “unbelievable” and highlighting his ability to change games. “He has the capacity to change and decide games. That is his maturity, and it’s another step in what he wants,” said Arteta. “When you do it at home, in big games, and when the team needs him, that’s what defines a top player. If we want to be at the top, sometimes players have to create those moments, and he certainly did that again today.”

The result leaves Southampton still searching for their first win of the season, with just one point from seven games. Meanwhile, Arsenal extended their unbeaten run in all competitions to 16 matches, keeping them firmly in the title race as the season progresses.
