Atiku Encourages Anambra Citizens To Support ADC For Better Governance

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has appealed to voters in Anambra State to use the upcoming governorship election scheduled for November 8 to bring in what he described as a renewed era of quality leadership and political stability in the state.

He said the election presents a crucial moment for residents to decide the kind of future they want for Anambra.

In a message shared on his official X handle, Atiku stressed that although the poll is part of Nigeria’s off cycle elections, it holds great importance for the people. He stated that the contest “offers a unique opportunity to end the era of poor governance in the state” and prevent a situation where the ruling party could “snatch and run away with the mandate of the people.”

Atiku urged Ndi Anambra to unite behind the African Democratic Congress candidates, Nwosu Chima John and Nwobu Geoffrey Ndubisi, who he described as capable leaders with a clear vision for the state. He said the duo possess the needed qualities to lead Anambra towards “a new era of prosperity and economic stability.”

He also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission to use the Anambra poll to restore public trust in the nation’s electoral system. According to him, the election is an opportunity for the electoral body under Joash Amupitan to show that it is committed to conducting credible elections that reflect the will of the people. “The electoral umpire must prove to the world that it has turned a new page and that the integrity of our elections will not be sacrificed for the satisfaction of the ruling party,” he said.

Atiku encouraged every registered voter in Anambra to participate and mobilise support for the ADC to ensure a transparent and successful election. He added that the state has always played an important role in Nigeria’s history and should continue to set a positive example. “I believe that yet again Ndi Anambra will open the chapter of a new beginning in Nigeria where lasting prosperity, peace and stability will thrive,” he said.

He concluded by expressing confidence that the people of Anambra would vote wisely and choose leaders whose focus is the common good of the state and the nation at large. He described the election as a defining moment that could shape the future of governance and development in the region.
