After a marathon meeting with the national leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, the management of the University of Lagos, UNILAG, has agreed to a reduction in the obligatory fees payable by students of the institution. The Federal Government has certified the blue rail infrastructure of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) as safe for passenger operations. This was disclosed in a statement on Thursday by the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA). LAMATA stated that the certification follows a painstaking audit of the rail infrastructure by the Government Inspector of Railways from the Federal Ministry of Transportation. President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Aliyu Ahmed as the new Federal Commissioner/Chief Executive Officer of the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI). A statement by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, on Thursday in Abuja said the appointment takes immediate effect. Ahmed holds Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Sociology and has previously served the Nasarawa State Government as the Secretary to the State Government (SSG). Man Utd winger Jadon Sancho will train away from the first team until issues with manager Erik ten Hag are resolved. Ten Hag left Sancho out of his squad for the loss at Arsenal earlier this month, saying the winger’s training performances had been below standard. Appeal Court over rules Asaba tribunal judgement that declared Ndudi Elumelu as Winner of the election for Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency of Delta State. The Appeal Court, in two judgments on Thursday, declared Ngozi Okolie of the Labour Party (LP) as the authentic winner of the February 25th election. In a bid to resolve issues around passport processing, the Federal Government has moved the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) to the Ministry of Interior. The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in fulfilment of his promise to ensure proper coordination of the identity data of Nigerians, has lately been making some modifications to the operations of the Nigeria Immigration Service, the agency that issues passports. The leadership of the Obafemi Awolowo University Students’ Union (OAU-SU) has condemned the recent 300% hike in tuition fees by the university management.
