The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, has suspended its candidate in the Feb. 25 presidential election, Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso for alleged anti-party activities. The BoT also suspended the National Working Committee, NWC, members of the party. It also appointed new national officers headed by Dr Agbo Major as acting National Chairman and Mr Ogini Olaposi as the Acting National Secretary. The suspension is for six months. Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has been named in Cameroon’s squad for their final Africa Cup of Nations qualifier. Libya has repatriated twenty hundred and ninety-eight Nigerians back to Nigeria in separate chartered flights early this week. According to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the returnees were sent back to the country directly from Libyan prisons. The first flight came with 161 returnees on the 21st August, 2023 while the second flight arrived in the early hours of Monday with 137 Returnees. It was reported that the returnees mostly women had spent varying periods in different detention camps in Libya. Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, says the ministry has concluded plans to reintroduce monthly sanitation as part of strategies to keep the city clean. Wike stated this in Abuja on Monday, after a closed-door meeting with contractors handling different projects in the FCT.
