Nigerian Senate on Thursday confirmed the Service Chiefs whose appointments were transmitted to the Senate by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for legislative action. The confirmation followed the screening by the Committee of the whole which was presided over by the Senate President, Godswill Obot Akpabío. President Bola Tinubu has assured that his administration will transfer N8,000 monthly to 12 million low-income households for six months. Tinubu’s request to the Senate to approve the borrowing of $800 million was given the green light on Thursday after his letter was read during plenary by Senate President Godswill Akpabio. In the letter, the president explained that the loan will go towards scaling up the national social safety net programme, noting that an N8,000 monthly stipend would be transferred directly to the beneficiaries accounts. The government of Rivers State, led by Governor Siminalayi Fubara, has unveiled free buses to help cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal by President Bola Tinubu‘s government. Carlo Ancelotti will stand trial for tax fraud after the Real Madrid coach allegedly failed to declare image rights earnings in 2014 to the Spanish tax office.
