The Bauchi State Police Command has declared a House of Representatives member, Yakubu Abdullahi Shehu wanted for alleged murder. The security agency also placed a bounty of N1 million on the lawmaker representing Bauchi federal constituency. Gunmen have kidnapped the Accord Party candidate for the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area Constituency 2 in the Rivers State House of Assembly for the March 18 election, Chukwudi Ogbonna. Mr. Ogbonna was reportedly kidnaped while driving in his car at Rumuigbo, near Port Harcourt on Monday night when the gunmen forced him to stop and whisked him away with his car. The Federal Government is to relocate 10,000 persons in Mosun Community in Bassa Local Government Area of Kogi following the rampaging activities of the River Benue during raining season. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has confirmed that old N200, N500, N1,000 notes will remain legal tender until December 31, 2023. The apex bank’s Acting Director of Corporate Communications, Isa AbdulMumin, announced this in a statement on Monday. AbdulMumin stated that the CBN took the decision based on the Supreme Court’s ruling of March 3, 2022. “Accordingly, the CBN met with the Bankers’ Committee and has directed that the old N200, N500 and N1000 banknotes remain legal tender alongside the redesigned banknotes till December 31, 2023. “Consequently, all concerned are directed to conform accordingly,” the statement read in part.…

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, has assured the legal team of the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, that all documents used during the February 25 election would be made available for inspection. The Court of Appeal in Abuja, on Monday, commenced sitting in an appeal filed by Mr Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against a judgment of the tribunal which invalidated his election as Governor of Osun State. The three-member panel of justices began sitting in the appeal at about 10am.
