A Civil Society Organisation, YIAGA Africa, has published its findings on the mock accreditation exercise recently conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission ahead of the general election. The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expelled former governor of Enugu State, Senator Chimaroke Nnamani and 6 others over alleged anti-party activities. Recall that Senator Nnamani was last month suspended by the party. The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation has assured Nigerians that depositors’ funds are safe, saying that the current Central Bank of Nigeria currency swap has nothing to do with people’s monies in banks. The Naira on Thursday exchanged at 461.10 to the dollar at the Investors and Exporters window. The figure represented an appreciation by 0.02 per cent compared with the 461.17 it exchanged on Wednesday. The open indicative rate closed at N461.25 to the dollar on Thursday. An exchange rate of N462 to the dollar was the highest rate recorded within the day’s trading before it settled at N461.10. The naira sold for as low as 439.96 to the dollar within the day’s trading. The Lagos State Government says it was contemplating implementing logistic routes for trucks and articulated vehicles as specified in the State’s Transport Master Plan. The Commissioner for Transportation, Dr Frederic Oladeinde made the disclosure at a stakeholders’ meeting on Thursday at Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Alausa Ikeja.
