Amidst the current crisis trailing the naira redesign and distribution, President Muhammadu Buhari has said he would in one week to take a major decision. A statement by his media aide, Garba Shehu on Friday, said Buhari’s request is sequel to a meeting he held with members of the Progressive Governors Forum the umbrella body of APC governors at the State House. Buhari gave indications that he would within seven days resolve the cash crunch plaguing Nigerians as a result of the policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria to change high-value Naira notes with new ones.

The governors, under the umbrella of the Progressives Governors Forum, are meeting with the president at the council chamber of the State House, Abuja. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has approved the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja and Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, as home venues for Super Eagles 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Students of the University of Benin clashed with some soldiers at the school premises on Thursday over cash withdrawal at one of the bank’s Automated Teller Machines. Trouble was said to have started as attempts to jump the queue by the soldiers was met with stiff resistance by the students who had waited patiently on the queue for their turn. The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission and the Egyptian Competition Authority on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding to promote trade fairness between both countries. The Federal Government, on Thursday, confirmed it airlifted 1,531 stranded Nigerians from Ukraine. Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, in a major escalation of the war which began February 2014. Manchester United forward, Mason Greenwood has said that he was ‘relieved’ after charges of attempted rape and assault against him were dropped. Greenwood, 21, was arrested in January last year amid allegations surrounding images and videos. On Thursday, the Crown Prosecution Service explained that the charges brought against Greenwood were discontinued after key witnesses withdrew their involvement.
