The Federal Government on Friday launched North-East Galaxy Backbone regional and marketing office in Gombe. The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has uploaded some results from the ongoing governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections. The electoral body had received criticisms from opposition parties and some Nigerians, for failing to upload results immediately on its Result Viewing (iReV), portal during the February 25 presidential and National Assembly elections. INEC had explained that this was due to technical glitches, which affected result transmission. A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adamu Garba, claimed there is no incidence of violence in the ongoing governorship and state House of Assembly elections in Lagos State. In a tweet on Saturday, Garba claimed he is currently in Lagos and can confirm that there is no violence in the South West state. The Nigeria Police Force, have warned supporters of all political parties not to kill themselves because of any politician over the March 18 governorship and houses of assembly polls. Usman Baba, the Inspector-General of Police, has announced restriction of vehicular movements during this Saturday’s governorship and House of Assembly elections. The Force spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed this in a statement on Thursday. According to Adejobi, the restriction would take effect from 12am to 6pm. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has renewed calls on political parties to consider Saturday’s Governorship and States Houses of Assembly election as a contest and not a war. Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, the INEC Chairman said this at an Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES), meeting on Tuesday in Abuja.
