Bandits have launched another attack in a community in Kwara State, abducting 11 residents during a late night raid. According to the report, more than 20 armed men stormed the area on Monday while moving with a large herd of cattle to create panic.

Witnesses said the attackers fired several shots into the air as they advanced, forcing residents to flee for safety.

During the assault, an elderly woman was reportedly struck by a stray bullet, heightening the fear and confusion within the community. A local leader, who spoke under anonymity, confirmed that 11 individuals were taken away by the gunmen. He also noted that seven of the abducted victims were from a single family, a detail that has increased the community’s distress over the incident.

The victims include a pregnant woman, two nursing mothers, and several young children, reflecting the indiscriminate nature of the attack. Those kidnapped have been identified as Talatu Kabiru, aged 20; Magaji, aged 6; Kande, aged 5; Hadiza, aged 10; and Mariam, aged 6. These young victims were reportedly taken alongside older family members during the raid.

Other abducted individuals were listed as Saima, aged 5; two housewives, Habibat and Fatima Yusufu; a pregnant woman, Sarah Sunday, aged 22; Lami Fidelis, a 23 year old nursing mother; and another nursing mother known as Haja Na Allah. Residents say the number of vulnerable individuals involved makes the situation even more troubling for the community.

Eyewitnesses also reported that the gunmen moved through several parts of the town, leaving behind visible signs of their presence. Bullet holes were discovered in walls and doors, and numerous expended AK 47 shells were scattered across the area after the attackers withdrew. These indications point to the severity of the assault and the danger faced by residents.

As of now, police authorities have not released an official statement regarding the incident. The community continues to live in fear as residents await further updates from security agencies and hope for the safe return of the abducted victims.
