Biden Grants Approval for Ukraine to Use US Missiles Inside Russia, Following Russia’s Attack In Sumy.

In a significant development, US President Joe Biden has reportedly given Ukraine the green light to use long-range missiles supplied by the United States to strike targets within Russian territory. While the decision has not been officially announced, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky hinted at the move, stating, “Missiles will speak for themselves.”

The decision marks a shift in the ongoing conflict, allowing Ukraine to strengthen its defensive capabilities while countering Russia’s aggression. Reports suggest that this step aims to help Ukraine hold onto the limited Russian-occupied territory under its control.

Overnight Attack in Sumy

Meanwhile, Russia conducted a large-scale overnight assault on Ukraine, killing at least 10 people in Sumy, a region near the border. The attack underscores the intensity of the conflict as it enters a critical phase.

 Global Reactions

The UK has also reiterated its commitment to supporting Ukraine. Speaking ahead of the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer emphasised the importance of unwavering support for Ukraine.  “We need to double down on shoring up our support for Ukraine,” Starmer said, noting that Ukraine remains a priority on the summit’s agenda.

Zelensky Responds

As reports about the US decision emerged, Zelensky commented on the evolving situation without explicitly confirming the details.

“Strikes are not carried out with words. Such things are not announced. Missiles will speak for themselves,” he remarked, leaving little doubt about Ukraine’s readiness to act decisively.

This development is likely to escalate tensions in the region, with implications for the broader geopolitical landscape. As the conflict intensifies, the international community continues to grapple with finding a path to peace while supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty.
