The Christian Association of Nigerians in the 19 Northern States and Abuja has raised alarm over the worsening economic conditions and escalating security challenges in Nigeria, expressing deep concern for the plight of ordinary citizens.
In a statement released by the Northern Christian Association’s Secretary-General, Elder Sunday Oibe, the organization highlighted the unbearable suffering experienced by Nigerians due to soaring prices of essential commodities, transportation, goods, and services.The statement highlighted the negative effects of these economic downturns on the general public, with many people finding it difficult to pay for basic necessities.
Moreover, the association also emphasized the dire security condition in the nation, highlighting the primary concerns of kidnapping for ransom and the prevalence of homicides. Recent protests in Minna, Kano, and Ondo State, among other places in the nation, provide as more evidence of the public’s annoyance and discontent with the current state of affairs.
Elder Sunday Oibe urged the Federal Government to take urgent action to address the pressing economic challenges and insecurity facing the country.In the statement, Nigerians were urged to assist law enforcement and advocated for more funding for security services.
Additionally, the Northern Christian Association criticized regional groups and some Northern Senators for opposing government plans to relocate certain departments from Abuja to Lagos.The association called for a focus on cost-efficiency and policy efficacy instead of ethnic or regional emotions, calling such resistance sad.
The group demanded that victims of violence receive justice among the cries for intervention, stressing the significance of holding sponsors and offenders responsible in order to guarantee long-term security and peace.
