Tottenham midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur received a four-game ban, while Napoli’s Mathias Olivera, Barcelona’s Ronald Araujo, and Atletico Madrid’s Jose Maria Gimenez were all handed three-game suspensions.
The confrontation, which escalated following the final whistle, has been condemned by CONMEBOL, who described the scenes as “unacceptable.” The organization promptly launched an investigation into the matter, highlighting the seriousness of the incident.
