Deputy Administrator, Isobel Coleman from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), graced the inauguration of President Joseph Boakai as part of the U.S. Presidential Delegation in Liberia.
During her stay, Deputy Administrator Coleman engaged with various stakeholders, including government officials, civil society representatives, and private sector leaders.
The primary focus was on fortifying the U.S.-Liberia relationship and showcasing the ongoing efforts of the U.S. government in key areas.
One highlight of her visit was the tour of the Soniwein Health Center in Monrovia, where Deputy Administrator Coleman witnessed firsthand the impact of USAID’s investments in health systems, particularly its endeavors to enhance the quality of malaria services.
The Deputy Administrator emphaised the U.S. government’s commitment to supporting anti-corruption initiatives, equitable healthcare, and youth employment in Liberia.
In their discussion, Deputy Administrator Coleman met with Liberian anti-corruption advocates who are at the forefront of initiatives to bolster accountability, transparency, and peace throughout the country.
Further emphasizing the collaborative efforts between the U.S. and Liberia, Deputy Administrator Coleman engaged with local agribusiness entrepreneurs and private sector partners.
These discussions highlighted joint initiatives with USAID aimed at creating job opportunities and uplifting local communities, reinforcing the agency’s dedication to sustainable development.
Throughout her visit, Deputy Administrator Coleman expressed gratitude to USAID staff for their dedication to locally-led development in the region.
