The inaugural flight originating from London Gatwick touched down at Kotoka International Airport over the weekend.
The arrival was met with a warm and spirited West African reception, featuring traditional dancers, drummers, and a distinguished VIP delegation that included Harriet Thompson, the British High Commissioner to Ghana.
Flights connecting Accra and Gatwick are now operating three times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. In an exciting expansion move, this service is slated to increase to four flights a week starting in April of the following year.
Neil Chernoff, the Director of Network and Alliances at British Airways, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “With a total of 11 direct flights available through two London gateways, we are delighted to offer our valued Ghanaian patrons an even broader array of choices. In essence, we are doubling the number of available seats on the route between Accra and London.”
The airline’s A350 fleet currently serves daily flights from London Heathrow to Accra, further enhancing the connection between these two dynamic cities. Additionally, this new route provides an enhanced capacity for cargo transportation between the two capital cities.
In celebration of the augmented Accra flight services, British Airways is treating travelers to the vibrant rhythms of Afrobeats. Commencing from November 1, passengers can enjoy an exclusive Afrobeats playlist curated by the renowned DJ Cuppy during their onboard experience.
