James’ tame penalty was saved by Szczqsny to send his side to an 11th consecutive International tournament. And Mudryk came through for Ukraine, sealing their Euro 2024 spot with a dramatic winner in the 85th minute with a strike from outside the box – just his second international goal. Mudryk scored Ukraine’s winner.

Wales fell short in their bid to qualify for the Euro 2024 Championships, experiencing heartbreak as Dan James missed the crucial final penalty in their first-ever international shootout. The match, filled with drama and tension, showcased both teams’ determination to secure a spot in the prestigious tournament.

The game started with a fast-paced exchange of attacks, with Wales aiming to replicate their early-scoring success from previous matches. However, despite their efforts, neither team managed to find the net in the first half, with cautious play dominating the proceedings.

Wales thought they had taken the lead just before halftime, but captain Ben Davies’ goal was disallowed for offside, adding to the frustration and intensity of the game. The second half saw both teams pushing for a breakthrough, with Wales creating opportunities through aerial threats from Kieffer Moore and Neco Williams’ dangerous free kicks.

As the match headed towards extra time, Polish star Robert Lewandowski searched for a decisive goal but was unable to find the target. The cautious approach from both sides led to a tense stalemate, ultimately leading to a penalty shootout to determine the winner.

Poland gained an advantage when Wales’ Chris Mepham received a red card in added time, giving them a psychological edge. The decisive moment came as Dan James’ penalty was saved by Wojciech Szczęsny, securing Poland’s place in the Euro 2024 Championships for the 11th consecutive time.

In another Euro 2024 qualifier, Ukraine faced Iceland in a thrilling encounter. After falling behind to an early goal from Albert Guðmundsson, Ukraine fought back with Viktor Tsyhankov’s equalizer. The match remained intense, with Ukraine’s persistence paying off as Mudryk scored a dramatic winner in the 85th minute, sealing Ukraine’s spot in the tournament.

Ukraine’s victory sets them up for a challenging campaign in Group E alongside Belgium, Slovakia, and Romania, while Iceland faces disappointment as they miss out on yet another major tournament despite their early advantage.
